“Firsts” is a series of three spots celebrating the excellence and vision that Verizon has had and continues to have over the years. It shows their commitment to innovation and trying out things even when other deemed it crazy. Today Verizon is the first network to provide 5G Ultra Wideband across the nation.

The first commercial cellular phone call was made by Bob Barnett in 1983 from a car (because the phone batteries were huge) in Soldier Field, Chicago to Alexander Graham Bell's grandson in Germany. The company that made this network possible eventually would become Verizon.

Years later CDMA technology was developed, most of the competitors thought that it was a failed technology, but it allowed to have a continuous phone call with no interruptions while the user was on the move. It is the technology that is still being used today, and it paved the ground to the next generation of connectivity, 5G Ultra Wideband.

After those crucial milestones, and becoming the pioneers in the telecommunication industry for years, Verizon has built the best network in the nation, and it will be the first to provide 5G Ultra Wideband nationwide. First to tomorrow, first to 5G.
